FULL APPEARANCE:
Arda is a tall and muscular young man, with ink black hair he keeps cropped short and his face free of any facial hair as much as he can. His eyes are a rich bluish brown, framed by long lashes. His skin tone is a paler olive hue and he has long fingers that may have been suited to play a musical instrument if he had ever thought to pursue that path. He dresses practically, favoring greens and browns, with the occasional splash of blue.

Arda is a very kind, friendly and energetic man. He greets all with a smile and asks them how their day may be going. He love people and will socialize with anyone, regardless of their station or rank. It means nothing to him in regards of who he speaks with and who he does not. Its very hard for him to be mean, nearly impossible but if in a special circumstance that compromises his morals or harm coming to a friend, he will put his big boy boots on and step in.
He is always striving for perfection and giving off the image of an eternal optimist and takes on every burden he can for his friends and loved ones, and as one would expect, he will overextend his own self. The result of such is him retreating into himself and from sight and he often will cry quietly into his pillow or exercise until he feels his body is near collapse and sleep off the result.
He works very hard to keep up the image of the fearless handler and ever reliable friend but he has no concept of his own limits or how to say no when a friend needs something. His own generous nature is both a gift and a curse, as the latter leads to his body pushed beyond the limits he can handle. It is these moments of utter collapse that he is humbled to his core and reminded he is only human and often his Reliosk will fuss at him and remind him to take care of himself if a friend or squadmate does not beat her to it.
Ever the charmer and hopeless romantic, Arda is massive flirt and will make a pass at any willing adult of age that he does not know is bonded to another. That said, he does respect boundaries and will step back if asked. He does dream of finding his own true love someday and desires this almost more than anything else.

HISTORY:
Arda was born to simple drudge parents within the walls of High Reaches hold. His early life was fairly uneventful and he had a sister born a year later, though he was still too young to remember. His mother and father encouraged their children as they grew to follow their dreams and nothing was really out of reach if you were willing to put in the hard work. This was a notion that he carried into his teenage years. However, he never really seemed to have that special something that would have made him candidate material as a dragon rider, and multiple times he met passing riders but no search dragon seemed to think he was good enough. His sister ended up being searched however and while he was happy for her of course, it did sow a seed of sorrow in his heart. What was so wrong with him that he was not good enough to be a brave dragon rider?
So instead he decided to apply himself to being a guard for the hold and this was his reality for a few years. That was until he was 22 and his parents surprised him with a wher egg. They had been saving up for it for a number of years and purchased it from a clutch from somewhere that he never really bothered to ask about. He was far too excited by this gift and his parents sacrifice and the egg hatched into a beautiful green whom was named Reliosk. After he blooded his wher, he was lead to the handler barracks where he was put through training as handler formally and the pair excelled here and Arda had never been happier.
Once he was of age, he was assigned to a squad led by a woman named Drusilla. Arda admired her strength and determination from the start and despite being a bit of a disaster at first, over the years, he felt he had finally found his place in the world and could not wait to write to his sister about it. His squad leader was as close to another family member as he ever had and Arda idolized her and wanted to make her proud to have him in her squad. Life was good for several years after. But then tragedy struck when a mudslide destroyed High Reaches hold. He put in the effort with the rest of his squad to do search and rescue, desperately trying to find his parents but to no avail. Accepting that they were sadly amongst the lives lost, he was in mourning for many turns, though he tried to hide it when others were around.
The one person he could not hide it from however, was his now former squad leader. She knew him and seen right through his attempt to mask it. She encouraged him to take his sorrow and make it his motivation and while they were all taking refuge at High Reaches Weyr, he decided to follow suit when she joined Sunburst Squad alongside Drusilla. He also remains hopeful that he might find his sister somewhere out there and reunite with her.
