FULL APPEARANCE: Holt is a man of exceptional height and really broad shoulders. He is lacking in girth that is anything but muscle. With lavish skin the color of well-polished dark walnut and a darker shade echoed in his eyes, Holt is quite the handsome lad - or he would be, if he ever smiled. His hair would be in unkempt curls if allowed to blossom, but Holt prefers it to be shaved close to his skull for the sake of simplicity and efficiency. A firm, strong chin silhouettes plump lips and rather obnoxious frown lines.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Well-spoken and exuding an atmosphere of high-class sophistication, Holt is a staunch stickler for the rules. Outwardly he is the perfect embodiment of a statue - decidedly lacking in emotional indicators that might give others a clue to his mood. He is perpetually stoic, almost comically so. Even recounting jovial tales of his youth or declarations of love for his weyrmate are lackluster and monotonous. It is difficult for him to connect to his feelings, although there is no logical reason for this personal development in his past. While often calm and collected, Holt only shows true anger if those within his wing, his dog, Raidoth, or his weyrmate Cozner are insulted or put into danger.

Inwardly, he cares deeply for the members of his Weyr and wing. Holt is warm, kind-hearted, and shown to go above and beyond for others both personally and professionally. If an individual matches his personal preference for proper grammar and punctuality (and shares a dislike in being corrected), Holt might endure to mentor them secretly through interactions intended to make favorable traits shine through.

Interestingly enough, he is prone to indulge in childish behavior with those he has grown accustomed to. Holt is highly competitive and is prone to entertain Raidoth's 'rivalry' with Joheith by sniping quips at Louisa when given the opportunity. For a man of little outward emotion, Holt can dole out a hefty amount of sass without breaking character.

HISTORY: TW: Mentioned Homophobia Holt hailed from a single mother on the Ruathan Guard. Not much is known about his father, as he failed to be involved in Holt's life and was only barely mentioned by his mother, Marjorie. Ruatha Hold came together to help raise him alongside the other children. He was ushered into wartime Pern - when dragonriders attacked on another in the skies and settlements waited with bated breath for the violence to subside while constantly watching their own backs, fearful that the quarrel would turn onto them. Marjorie stood out amongst the guards for her no-nonsense lawful good disposition and conviction to uphold all that was good and just, instilling confidence into her fellow man and woman. Holt looked up to her and aspired to become one with the Guard as he grew older.

That chance fell upon him as Thread arrived and the fighting subsided. He aged into an 'apprenticeship' and followed closely in his mother's footsteps, learning what was appropriate for his youthfulness and striving forth on a drive to become just as good, or better, than Marjorie. There were other holders taken to the guard as well. One of them was a young lad named Cozner. They became fast friends. Adolescence saw them entangle into something more. Pern was a little more progressive than it once might have been, but there were some who would look upon Holt's romance with Cozner in disapproval. Such scornful eyes were enough to see Cozner drop from the ranks, seeking instead to become a harper. Cozner was Searched by Telgar Weyr during the peak of the plague in 2762 and Holt would not see him for another decade.

As the global pandemic faded into the shadows, Holt found himself approached by Fort dragonriders. Search pulled him into Fort Weyr's confines in 2767 - just in time to witness Nornth's demand of bloodshed during her mating flight and the subsequent poisoning of her and her rider, Blaze. The following turn, Holt stood on the sands for the clutch begot by Serapheth and Wireth. He was found by white Raidoth and became a weyrling.

He bore witness to Fort Hold's rebellion, which bled through into Weyr politics as a bronze was forcefully installed as a wingleader. Holt and Raidoth ascended into full dragonriderhood well before Z'osh staged his coup against Tuckal and placed all garnets under house arrest. The whiterider pair took part in the weyrbowl brawl on the side of the progressives, outwardly disgusted by the sense of superiority emanating from the traditionalists.

In 2773, a trader's caravan brought with it a litter of the most adorable canines Holt had ever seen. He traded his marks for a bread-loaf looking pup and named her Cheddar.

A turn later, a blue dragonrider transferred to Fort Weyr. Holt was beside himself (internally, of course) to see that it was his childhood sweatheart Cozner astride a dragon named Oppenth. It did not take long for them to resume their relationship from where they left off, officially titling themselves as weyrmates with dragons who were like brothers and a fur baby canine. The future looks bright.

SPECIES: Swedish Vallhund
FULL APPEARANCE: Cheddar is all body and little legs. A dark coat of blackish brown and some gray runs the length of her back, coming to a point on her dapper little nose. The base of her paws and underbelly from muzzle to tail are a rich cream tapering to a sandy brown, intermingling in bands here and there on the darker bits of her fur. Her tail ... What tail? It's more of a bob. Chocolate eyes are always searching for the next treat! Granted you would have to bring it low to the ground for her to see it, because she is not tall in the slightest.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Cheddar is a well-trained pooch. Attentive to her master's command, she can sit, stay, roll over, play dead ... and yes, she will smooch you with kisses but only on occasion. Similarly to Holt, Cheddar doesn't typically display outwards affection save for a tail wagwiggle and a happy pant. But she is content to cuddle with the ones she loves - and will growl and bark if you are a stranger.

As if he were made to be the antithesis of Joheith, Raidoth is no less than a stunning white. On the larger end, he is lean and narrow, with startlingly broad wings for how slim the rest of him is. He is a pale, moonlight-white all over, with the backs of his wingsails a more slate gray. There are two dark gray "scar-like" markings over his face, one over his right eye and one across the left side of his muzzle. There are thick bands of gray over his shoulders and ankles, with large bands of gray that look not unlike supply packs on his hips. There bands and lightning-like zigzags on his tail. On the insides of his wings are darker gray crack-like marks.

PERSONALITY:
Married to his work, in the strictest sense. Raidoth has a weyr to protect and he will do it at the expense of his own health. And his sleep. And pretty much everything else. He is a serious dragon, and getting him to relax is a monumental task. He does find small things that he enjoys, usually involving swimming. He does enjoy the rain as well. One would think that he and Joheith have a rivalry, but Raidoth is fairly certain that it would be useless. That doesn't stop him from occasionally thinking that he is the better white.

To his rider, Raidoth is the pinnacle of discipline. He will be endlessly pushing them to be better, and will need to be told and taught that it is fine to have a day or two to just not be going at 100%. He could stand to find something that he enjoys that is not work, because he could work all day and be fine. He means very well, he wants the best for the world. But unlike Joheith, he is a little more likely to lash out at others. The job is most important, why doesn't anyone else get that!

Voice: Vocal and outspoken, Raidoth's voice is deep, like a roll of thunder.

Pern does not have corgis and that is not a form of dog like to occur by random happenchance. Cheddar can definitely still exist on TPA but should be a dog that makes sense for an agricultural, pre-industrial society, where most dogs would be larger hunting or herding dogs.
