Hy’lin is a young man of average height and delicate features. He’s hardly as delicate as he looks, though he tends to bruise easily. He has cobalt blue eyes that pair well with his kind smile. His hair is dirty blond and falls to the base of his neck, his bangs parted just so his eyes remain clear. He prefers colorful clothing, but he appreciates the value of clothes that hold up over time. He’s not very fashionable, but he somehow manages to always look neat, even after a long day’s work.

Hy’lin is a kind, cheerful lad with an adventurous head on his shoulders. He always wonders about the unknown in the world and makes it his goal to make the unknown known. He’s very meticulous in his documentation of his explorations, whether it’s a blocked storeroom in the lower caverns or a cave in the mountains no one’s seen. He’s good with directions and knowing where he is, so he has great confidence when telling people where to go. He loves sharing his discoveries with others no matter how big or small and delights in others wanting to join him. He likes his time alone with Solseruth too, and they will spend free time at their own little haunts from time to time.
He’s very prone to becoming distracted from his objective in favor of a more interesting discovery and will often forget his original mission entirely, potentially leading to trouble or injury to others. It’s not his intent, but he struggles with routine or rote tasks that he finds boring. He would much rather be flying about making deliveries than performing guard duty, but he also understand that everyone must play their part if the collective is meant to succeed.

HISTORY:
From the time he was small, Hynnolin was determined to explore all of Pern. It didn’t take him long to explore all of the creche as a lad, but he always seemed to find a new nook or cranny that no one had seen before. There were no great discoveries in his future, but the simple act of discovering something new made his day. As he grew older, he became interested in map making and would draw his own crude creations of the lower caverns and the weyr at large with his own annotations (such as ‘wall is bumpy here’ and ‘firelizard hangout’). He’d always intended to stand as a candidate, but between chores, and later lessons, he learned what he could from the harpers to refine his craft.
He was seventeen when the fateful hatching occurred, dragon after dragon breaking out of their eggs at a steady pace. Eventually a white hatched, one that, to Hynnolin, had a special something. Or, rather, somethings, as the creature had many more wing fingers than was standard for a dragon. It seemed to not notice, or at least not care, stretching its wings out to dry the webs between all of those fingers.
You really like my wings? I like them too! I can’t wait until we can fly together, we’ll explore everywhere! The White said, eyes whirling rainbows as she stepped up to Hynnolin, creeling happily.
Now Hy’lin, he and Solseruth put all of their energy into mastering their lessons, eagerly awaiting the day they could fly on their own. Solseruth’s extra wing fingers proved to have no detriment to her flying and she proved just as agile in the air as any other dragon. They aced their drills through hard work and passed with flying colors straight into the jaws of Threadfall. They did their best, but after a time they realized their talents would be put to better use elsewhere, namely exploring the lands surrounding Semaca Weyr and mapping their progress. They put in for a transfer and joined Mazurka Squad, determined to map all of the south no matter what.
