Though I understand a wounded heart
Why do I end up hurting and leaving the same scars?
Labeling it as ego, grouping it all together
The true essence of you and me, burning transparently
-Akari, Soushi Sakiyama

Satoru is a tall and lean man with a somewhat muscular build. Much of his height is in his legs, which he likes to show off when flirting. His [color] hair sits in attractively tousled spikes that are typically kept shorter than his nape. His most stunning feature are his bright blue eyes that seem to go on for ages if one stares in to them. He has quite a thing for fashion and will aggressively keep up with the times, even as far as riding gear allows.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Generally of a sunny disposition, Satoru is one of the people who have taken the phrase ‘hakuna matata’ to heart. He seems to have no worries about anything, infinitely confident that everything will always work out for the best, often forgetting that the best outcomes tend to need some elbow grease to come true. He can be incredibly irresponsible at times due to a lifetime of other people picking up after him such that he’s rarely had to face the consequences of his own actions.
He had quite the ego on him after being told he’s the best for so much of his childhood. While Gojo has many talents, perfect he is not, which has led to a near crippling anxiety regarding failure- he “can’t” fail, so if success is not assured, he simply won’t do the thing, even if it makes him look like an asshole. He can’t risk failure, as failure is not perfection.
Despite his shortcomings, Satoru is a truly kind person buried under the messy layers. His loyalty is limitless for those he calls friend and he will drop anything to help them in a heartbeat. Even on his shallow surface he is good to those who deserve it and a brat to those who don’t.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Father- Hirouji (deceased)
Mother- Marime
Older Brother- Suetane +5
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Suguru
BIRTHPLACE: Minor hold in Igen territory
HISTORY: TW: Death
Born second in a family of prosperous merchants, Satoru was born into a life of privilege. He wanted for northing from the day he was born and was constantly reminded of his status. He was only three when Hirouji passed from a sudden and quick illness, and while his father’s death didn’t affect him much (at least at the time), it caused his mother much grief to the point of madness some said. Their family was hardly left destitute, and Suetane would take over as heir when of age, but Marime couldn’t deal with the loss of her husband, and thus became unhealthily obsessed over her youngest son.
For the rest of his childhood, Satoru found himself showered in praise by his mother and anyone in the family’s employ, though somewhat reluctantly. At first they simply meant to humor her in the wake of her loss, but even after she continued to treat her son like Faranth’s second coming. This caused an estrangement with Suetane, as he felt neglected by his remaining parent (and rightfully so); the brothers were never close.
Satoru grew into an arrogant brat, to put it kindly. He didn’t have many friends, or any close ones, and he was expected to be perfect in all things. At first it was easy, not having much difficulty mastering the things all small children learn, but as he grew older he started to struggle. Normally, this wouldn’t have been an issue, but with Marime looming over him expecting nothing but the best, he began to crumble under the pressure. This went on for several years, until not long after his fifteenth turnday, a rider from Igen came on search. Intent on leaving with the man, Satoru had been ready to beg to get away from the hold, but as luck would have it, he was searched and immediately accepted, much to his mother’s heartbreak. He barely looked back as the dragon departed, hopefully for a better environment for him.
Several months after his arrival, Satoru had more or less settled in when a new candidate arrived. Intent on ‘asserting his dominance’ (which had gotten him nowhere, everyone knew he was full of it), he greeted the newcomer with the air of a celebrity. Unfortunately for him, this was not well received, and he ended up with a nicely bruised jaw for his efforts. The pair continued to clash at first, physically and verbally, though a threat of expulsion from candidacy cut the physical fights soon after. As time passed and they gave each other the time of day, they began to get closer, until such time as they were inseparable.
While close, they were terrible for each other, each feeding into the other’s faults more than virtues. Satoru’s ego and attitude made him unpopular despite his attempts to reach out and make genuine connections with others, and his reluctance to fail hardly made him a stand out amongst the dragon hopefuls. He would write home every so often, but refused to visit. There was nothing to go back for, or rather, no one really, aside from his mother, and he wouldn’t put it past her to attempt to guilt trip him into staying. He wouldn’t, though; he had a purpose here, to Impress and maybe live up to the expectations put on him, and Suguru. He was, admittedly, too attached to his boyfriend, but he wasn’t sure how to not be so attached.
Things came to a head when Suguru’s mental health began to plummet as a result of the tension between him and his family. It was terrifying for Satoru as he didn’t know what to do or how to help, even after Suguru admitted to him how badly things were. The only thing he could do was suggest a transfer far away for a change of pace, something completely different for them both. Where better than Semaca, then? That was the farthest they could get away from home, so, applying for the transfer, both boys left for the south and better things.
Right away he noticed a difference in Suguru- he was lighter, figuratively speaking, and he seemed to be doing better. They both needed to adjust, though, and things weren’t perfect, but it seemed like everything was going to be okay. Hopefully.
