FULL APPEARANCE: Lily is a woman of light and color and brightness, from the vivid red of her hair and green of her eyes to the richly hued clothing she favors. Her features are soft and innocent but there's a certain stubbornness in the set of her jaw and a determined gleam in her eyes. She has a smile for just about everyone and carries herself with the easy confidence of a woman who knows her place in the world.

The most remarkable thing about Lily is her kindness. It's a soft, gentle sort of sweetness, prone not to showy bursts of generosity or freely flowing compliments, but a genuine belief that there is good in everybody and the ability to find it. She offers her friendship freely and readily to any she feels need it, whether or not they "deserve" it in the strictest sense, and her support in an understated, matter of fact sort of way.
Which isn't to say Lily is entirely free from judgment. She has a decided fondness for the underdog and zero tolerance for anyone she sees as the aggressor. She doesn't always take the time to ensure she's actually on the right side- she follows her instincts, which lean towards the defense of the weaker, always. She's highly idealistic and can struggle to recognize when she is wrong, although sincere apologies and genuine growth tend to win her over. She has quite a temper when she thinks someone is being needlessly cruel and does in fact hold a grudge.
Lily is loyal, something that is as much a liability as it is a strength. She'll forgive her friends many things before losing her temper, even at her own expense. Once someone is recognized as with her or against her, it takes something extraordinary for her to change her mind.

HISTORY: Lily had a decidedly ordinary childhood. She was born to a small cothold that was neither particularly prosperous nor particularly impoverished, the younger of two daughters. She had friends and attended Harper lessons and was generally a happy, normal child. Until the Searchdragons came when she was fifteen turns old.
Their hold was too small to attract many Searches, so all the eligible youths rushed to greet them, including Lily, her sister Petunia and her childhood friend, Severus. All three had always dreamed of being riders, in the idle, distant way children hope for something that may never be. To Lily's delight, both her and Severus were chosen, although Petunia was turned down, no matter how much she cried and begged.
Lily accepted anyway, a decision that forged a permanent rift between her and her sister. Lily and Severus went to Fort, where they became candidates. Lily Impressed quickly, to a garnet named Eridieth. The two soon became friends as well as partners.
Not long after, Lily's friendship with Severus drew to an end. He had fallen in with a group of traditionalists and she overheard him calling garnets "abominations". Which would have been unacceptable even had she not been a garnetrider herself.
She found new friends and moved on, entering the wings and pledging her own life and her dragon's to the protection of Pern.
