FULL APPEARANCE: Arya is on the smaller side, with youthful features and a slender build. She's stronger than she comes off at first glance and on closer inspection, is fairly muscular for her size. Her hands are well-calloused from her work as a rider, usually speckled with smoke and ash from her firestone. She has blonde hair, which she keeps cut short and out of the way. It's often not exactly even, but she trims it as often as she remembers.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Arya is a young rider eager to explore everything life has to offer. She still has so much to see and do and learn. Arya has a fondness for beautiful places, especially high in the mountains or near the sea. She likes to draw, when she has the time, although she isn't especially talented at it. Arya determined to become the best version of herself she can- hopefully of a version of herself that's a match for the riders around her.
Arya has a strong competitive streak. While she recognizes when people are better than her at something, she just takes that as motivation to push harder and try to catch up, even if the goal seems hard to reach. Arya is prone to pushing her own and her dragon's limits as far as she can and doesn't always stop, even when she is tired and nearing the limits of her endurance, trying to stubborn her way through. She can be impulsive and suggestible- especially if the suggestion is framed as a dare or a challenge.
Arya has friends and cares for them, but doesn't like to rely on anyone too heavily, even her dragon. She wants her accomplishments to be her own and feels very strongly about proving she can solve her own problems, which can lead to her getting in over her head and not knowing when it's time to ask for help.

HISTORY: Arya was born at Ista Weyr, to a pair of rider parents. As her parents, like most riders, had limited time for childcare, she was raised primarily by her weyrfolk uncle, who taught her how to paint and frequently took her walking along the beach. She was never especially close to her parents, which didn't bother her. As a child, she worried she lacked a strong sense of herself and her direction in life. She became a candidate when she came of age, because it was what most of the other weyrbrats were doing and what was expected of her, but wrestled a bit over whether it was what she truly wanted and how she could even be sure.
Arya did not Impress her first time standing, but didn't have a long time to wait. At 16, she Impressed to garnet Xrhuth, who quickly became one of her closest friends. Their weyrlinghood was, for the most part, a simple one, although Arya's weyrlingmaster did have to give her a few talkings to about trying to do things Xruth wasn't yet ready for, like flying too far or betweening too often.
Arya graduated and entered the wings. She wasn't the best rider at first, to her initial frustration, struggling to remember all the formations a wingrider was expected to know, but she decided to see her lack of innate talent as giving her more room to grow and truly earn her accomplishments. She found her feet over time, with as much help from Xrhuth as she was willing to take.
In 2776, Arya and Xrhuth decided to transfer to High Reaches Weyr. There was nothing wrong with Ista, or any compelling reason to leave, but they had both lived there all their lives and wanted to see more of Pern than their own front doorstep. And High Reaches, land of harsh winters and rocky mountains, was about as different as you could get!
