FULL APPEARANCE: Hela is a giant of a woman, nearly as tall as her half-brother. With strong, striking features and a muscular build with very little give in it, she's intimidating even before you catch a glimpse of poison-green eyes and jet black hair. Her age shows itself only in a few wrinkles and a single streak of grey in her hair.
Hela doesn't simply walk anywhere. She saunters, haughty and full of well-earned competence. Her voice has a bit of a rasp to it. She dresses primarily in green and black, well-made and tailored clothing that still leaves her room to move. She has a thing for capes and boots and skin-tight riding leathers. When matters get serious, she'll dust off her old war-helmet, a many-horned monstrosity designed to strike fear into the hearts of men.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
A hard woman for a hard world, Hela combines realism, a respect for strength and boundless ambition with martial skills smart men are cautious of. She has few moral principles beyond the drive to conquer and is little inclined to mercy. She prefers to get her way through fear, intimidation and sometimes a bit of manipulation when the urge strikes. Violence doesn't trouble her. Most days, she likes it.
Hela doesn't have much patience for the moralizing of others. She sees most of the world's good and great as hypocrites, happy to look the other way when blood is spilled in their name and then proclaim their innocence for all to hear. She knows every man and woman is either a monster or a victim and is amused by the way so many strive to hide it under a noble facade.
Which is not to say Hela is incapable of loyalty. A leader who wins her respect will find there are few measures she won't resort to to ease their path. But when betrayed, she shows no mercy. Hela has a fierce vengeful streak. These days, it is directed primarily in the direction of Asgard. Now that her father's new bully boy is gone...She will paint the halls of Asgard with the blood of lords and drudges alike and reign over the ashes.
When it comes to arrogance, Hela is every bit as confident in her own superiority as her brother. But she doesn't need to boom it. Volume implies insecurity. Hela rarely feels the need to shout. If they don't hear her? That's their problem. A Lady never repeats herself.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Father: Odin
Mother: Dead
(Half-)Brother: Thor of Blue Hinokath
Adopted brother: Loki
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: Asgard Hold
HISTORY:
Hela was born into a different time, when dragons warred, holds cowered in fear and Asgard was in truth the poor rural backwater it seemed. Her father was the Lord Holder of Asgard and her mother died in the birthing of her. She spent her childhood being molded into what Asgard needed: not a hero, not even a lady heir, but a monster. Hela took the role well, willingly serving as her father's strongest warrior. The very day she turned seventeen, she was presented with a sword and a wher egg and told to do her duty. The egg hatched into green Helask, who became Hela's constant companion.
Asgard allied itself with Golre's High Reaches and used the pretext of the war to sack and destroy every hold in the surrounding area, leaving their people to accept Odin's rule or live as holdless. Their treasures Hela and Odin took for Asgard and the hold grew rich and prosperous from the bounty, able to attract skilled crafters and top-rate warriors to further enhance its wealth. Hela's ambition exceeded even her father's and when Odin grew wary of his ability to contain his daughter, he had her banished and took another wife, in hopes of siring a more amenable heir.
Golre and High Reaches embraced Hela with open arms. Hela joined the guards and the ranks of Golre's enforcers. She quickly became one of Golre's favorite monsters and all knew that to question the Mad Golds in her hearing was to risk death. She fought the rest of war by Golre's side and as it drew to an end, lost Helask to one of the final battles. The green took any softness Hela might have had with her. Hela started training her first war dog the next day and resumed her service in the guard within the month.
When Golre declared war on Fort, Hela remained at home to defend High Reaches from all enemies, from within or without. She learned that the war was lost and her mistress had fallen secondhand, through a messenger. The new High Reaches had no place for a woman like Hela. While she was not executed and was permitted to continue as a guard, it was clear she would never again wield the influence she had possessed when she had Golre's ear. And so Hela changed paths and sought out a replacement wher. While veterans of Golre's era advised against it, she was permitted to stand and eventually bound the bronze Helsk.
Since then, she's been...oddly quiet, doing her duty and otherwise fading into the background. But she's been displaying a disturbing interest in news of Asgard and its new heir, who is not even of the Blood. Hela has always been a conqueror at heart and her next target lies in sight.
