FULL APPEARANCE: Pyeta is an attractive man, with strong features and a sturdy, muscular build. He carries himself with confidence and has a deep, pleasant voice. He keeps himself well groomed, with his hair long but impeccably styled and his beard neatly trimmed. He favors flattering, well-made clothes that stop just short of ostentatious.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: Pyeta is, on first glance, an easy going, well adjusted young man, who wants to help others and do good things for Pern. He is sociable and extroverted and likes to be liked. Cheerful and optimistic, he always has a smile and words of encouragement to offer. Pyeta doesn't want anything particularly grand for himself. He is content to live a simple, ordinary life. Subconsciously, he's a bit of a social chameleon, always adjusting to fit neatly into the mainstream of wherever he happens to find himself at the time- the one exception being when it comes to his brothers, who he will never go against in any way. He doesn't like conflict or uncomfortable conversations and will avoid taking controversial positions that could be seen to reflect poorly on him.
Pyeta struggles to understand that not everyone is like him. He thinks his way to be is the one and only right to be and that everyone would be happiest if they had the things he wants and strives for. He does not understand how anyone could truly be an introvert and assumes quieter people simply lack confidence and need encouragement. He'll push and meddle and try to encourage everyone into his version of happiness, without much thought for if it's what they really want. Pyeta likes most people, but often thinks he can "fix" people who don't fit his ideals and they will be happier for it. While his manners are laidback and low-key, Pyeta is actually quite controlling in his own way.
Pyeta is loyal and attached to his family, sometimes to a fault, with little respect for his brothers' privacy. He is going to make them happy- one way or another, because he loves them and someone needs to take care of them.

Pyeta was born the oldest of three children, to two ordinary holders in High Reaches Hold. As the oldest of his family's children, he felt responsible for his younger siblings and many younger cousins from a young age and did his best to keep everyone getting along and out of trouble. He had a happy childhood, surrounded by the people he loved. He would have been content to live that life forever.
As Pyeta grew older, he started to consider settling down and marrying a nice girl and having a family of his own, maybe obtaining his own piece of land to farm as close as he could get to his parents'. There was no particular girl, but Pyeta thought he would enjoy being a dad and could be a good husband.
Everything changed when the mudslides destroyed their home. Like most of High Reaches Hold, Pyeta's family lost everything in the disaster and came to High Reaches Weyr as refugees. Pyeta tried to keep his spirits up and see the bright side- because there was nothing else to do and some good cheer might help his brothers adapt.
When his brothers decided to stay at the weyr as candidates, Pyeta signed up with them. His brothers were the most important thing in his life. He loved them more than any dreams of domesticity. He went where they went. And didn't most boys dream of and play at being a dragonrider? Now Pyeta had the chance to be one for real.
