Welcome to The Peacekeeper’s Age! Peace has finally come to Pern and it’s up to Fort Weyr to make sure that things will stay that way.
We’re a slice of life site, so not everything is Threadfall and who’s leading the weyr this month. We’re more focused on characters, on how they live their lives and how they grow. This doesn’t mean there will never be important plots going on, they’re just not going to be a constant stream of intense, need-to-save-the-world plots.
Sound good? Great!
What should you do first? Well, if you haven’t read the Rules and the Plot, I would suggest doing that first. If you have, then read on! This guide will focus mostly on characters, and things you may want to keep in mind. There will be a few things about Impression in here as well, so hopefully there will be some useful information here that can help.
So, what sort of character do you want? If there are eggs on the sand, we’ll be in need of Candidates. Dragon candidates should be no younger than 15 (unless you’ve earned a stands impression for a character who is out of the age requirements) and no older than 30 at Fort, High Reaches, and Semaca. Wher candidates must be no younger than 17, no exceptions. If you want to play a candidate long before there are any eggs on the sand, that’s perfectly fine too! We just ask that you actually play your candidate. If you make a candidate a month before the hatching and never post with them, it’s highly likely that he or she will be left standing.
We ask that you be honest on the Candidate Questionnaire. If you don’t want a Green, tell us you don’t want a Green! Don’t say “I’m okay with anything” and then be unhappy when you get a color you didn’t want. We are not mind readers. If you are only looking for certain colors, be honest. We do not have Gold-Only candidates here, only Gold-Preferred. If you are going for Gold, be prepared for your character to be left standing repeatedly. We do not write dragons for candidates here, so the match has to be just right. Please don't make your questionnaires too narrow too. "A chipper dragon" is fine! "A chipper bronze" puts constraints on staff and we can't guarantee that a clutch will have what you want in it.
Additionally, if you limit all of your characters to only high-ranking colors, we will notice. We aren't going to give one person all the metallics/browns/garnets/whites. Having special wants for one character is totally fine, but if you refuse to be open to greens and blues, your characters may end up being left standing.
Regarding Gold, we look at multiple factors when determining eligibility. The minimum number of posts to qualify for a gold dragon is 200. We also look at someone's activity levels, and their reliability. Are you able to post reliably, and respond to important threads that need your characters? That's a good start! OOC behavior is taken into account as well. We are not giving someone who is rude, combative, snippy, etc such responsibility.
Dragonriders and Wherhandlers are welcome equally here. As long as the color is on the accepting list, you’re good to go. If it’s not, then please don’t pester the staff about it. The Peacekeeper’s Age is at least 10 turns in, and many of the older dragonriders and wherhandlers may still remember the more unpleasant times. Dragonriders and wherhandlers may be from Fort or High Reaches or they may be transfers from other Weyrs, we’re perfectly okay with that. Semaca Weyr has not been around long enough to have had anyone born or raised there yet.
If you want something unpleasant in your character’s history or personality (like abuse, for example), you are required to put a trigger warning on your app. The staff is human, and we don’t like to walk into something without warning. We may ask you to tone it down if it is particularly triggering. You can check the Guide to a Passing Review for further details.
If that all sounds good to you, then great! Hang out in the Discord, app a character, just have fun, and welcome to The Peacekeeper’s Age.
