FULL APPEARANCE: Sora's most striking feature is definitely the mess of hair that sits atop his head. It's completely untamable, no matter how many times it's combed or brushed. Combine this with his tendency to give big, goofy grins, and you probably won't forget Sora after you've seen him once. He's on the short side, but this has never stopped him once in his life.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY: If Sora could be summarized in one word, it'd be childlike.
Sora is the most optimistic, trusting individual you could ever meet. He wants to believe in the very best of people, and is always looking for the bright side of any given situation. He's quick to warm up to people, and even quicker to form bonds with them. Friendship is the driving force in Sora's life, and sometimes that's all that's needed to keep him going. He loves adventure, and nothing gets him more fired up than experiencing something new.
He is forgiving, perhaps a bit too much in that regard. If he had any sworn enemies, he could probably forgive them if they showed enough remorse.
While far from stupid, sometimes Sora can be a bit gullible. It's pretty easy to trick him if he's not wise to someone's true nature; on the other hand, if he's aware of an individual's unscrupulous character, he'll dismiss just about everything said to him.
Sora tends to leap into things without looking, so he often gets in over his head. He's somewhat bad at respecting authority, but it isn't intentional. He tends to get angry when he's confused. He can be overly competitive, and, to that extent, is also a bit overconfident in his abilities to the point of arrogance. It takes a serious failure for Sora to realize his shortcomings.
HISTORY
FAMILY: Seine (mother), Orlai (father, journeyman fisherman), Riku and Kairi (best friends)
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
BIRTHPLACE: A seaside cothold near High Reaches Hold
HISTORY: Ever since he was little, Sora has always dreamed of one thing- stretching his wings and leaving home to live a life full of excitement. The small, humble seaside cothold he was born and raised in had been adequate, at first. But after he explored every nook and cranny of the place, it became stifling. He yearned to see what lie beyond the horizon....but, as things were, it would be a while before he got that chance.
Until then, he'd get by as long as he had his best friends at his side. Starting when he was five, every day, he would go out and 'train' with Riku on a small island less than a mile offshore from home. While at first their fathers would take them out, as the boys got older, they began making the trip on their own.
This island was Sora's favorite place; he spent a lot of time out there with his two best friends, and many a precious memory was made there.
Unfortunately, the three wouldn't always be together. A while ago, Riku was searched, and he left for High Reaches. While Sora had wanted to go too, he wasn't selected. Something about not being mature enough. So, over the course of the next year and a half, the boy did his best to 'grow up' and better himself. The problem was, that he really couldn't understand what adults meant when they said 'mature'. That word was so vague. He hated it.
When the Searchers came back around, Sora was ready. He didn't feel any different from last time, but apparently he'd done something right because he got selected. So, finally, he'd get to begin his adventure. He had to leave Kairi behind to do so, though, but thankfully, she caught up to them soon.
The three united eventually, and were together in Candidate training. But once again, they were separated------. But they'd catch up again...right? Sora just had to trust in that.
Riku started to get distant, though. What caused it, Sora wasn't sure; but after exchanging letters back and forth, things seemed patched up and everything was okay again. Nothing could separate them now. Right?
Time passed, and the trio became adjusted to the uncertainty of High Reaches. But somehow, through it all, Sora always managed to find the bright side of everything, and it helped keep the spirits of his best friends up simply because of how infectious his positivity was. Bad times passed through the weyr, but they kept their chins up and believed a better tomorrow was coming.
Surprisingly, out of the three of them, Kairi was the first to impress. Riku followed soon after, and that left just Sora without a dragon. Clutches came and went, but no dragon chose him. Was he going to be a forever candidate? Would he just have to watch as his best friends continued on without him?
