Despite all the time her crew had spent around the Weyr now, Rysn still found it a downright strange place. Setting up outdoors to make her sales because that was where most people tended to spend their time was odd. Seeing dragons constantly overhead was even more unnerving, as well as irritating. Snooty, arrogant, awful things with absolutely no taste, but unfortunately their riders made good customers.
Rysn tried to ignore the sky and its occupants while she got her day's wares set up. She'd already had her assistant set up a table and a bench so that she could reach everything, she just needed to be sure that everything was perfect. She herself was already immaculate despite the southern continent's rather primitive amenities. Her wavy black hair practically gleamed, her light blue blouse's collar was starched and the tails were tucked into a darker blue skirt. The table's displayed products ran the gamut from necessities like soap and needles to small luxuries like scented oils and carved horn combs to jewelry and even a flute whose provenance was better off not questioned. She had painstakingly filed the maker's marks off of the latter and sanded the place smooth—it would sell for less than something with the mark of a master, but it couldn't be identified as stolen goods that way either.
Though really, it shouldn't have mattered. If merchants didn't want their cargo stolen, they should have defended it better. Rysn had never been able to participate in actual boarding action, but she knew that the crew had turned away from ships with actual defenses. Even if it was technically stolen, it was theirs now by right of conquest.
She looked up from her seat as someone approached, even if she was uncertain if they were heading for her table or simply passing by. "Is there anything I can interest you in?" she asked cheerily. She kept her smile on even as she noticed the rider's knots. Ugh. One of them. "I do my best to ensure I have something for everyone, and I can guarantee that whatever you need, I either have it or can have it sent from the settlement."
