FULL APPEARANCE:
Mutti doesn't really stand out all that much in a crowd; she's of fairly average height and build, with long, straight, dark brown hair that she keeps tied in low pigtails by habit. It makes her look more youthful, which she doesn't always like, but she also thinks it makes her seem cute and approachable, which she does like. She will grudgingly tie it back more securely when dealing with herdbeasts, which have a tendency to try to eat her hair otherwise if she's not careful. She has medium brown eyes, fairly wide and innocent usually but often unknowingly narrowed into a contemptuous sneer.
She generally wears neutral-colored clothing, not wanting to put anyone off with her manner of dress, plus her work often involves getting a little messy, and she doesn't want nicer things ruined.
PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY:
Mutti is rather insufferable. Oh, she's bright, she might even be brilliant, but she wants everyone to know just how smart she is. She doesn't know when to stop talking, and can be incredibly condescending, including commenting about how irritated she is at how "slow" other people are to understand things. She's at least enthusiastic about research and new development of existing species, but everything else is unimportant, and she can be prone to skipping out on events that aren't relevant to her interests, like most lessons. She doesn't really care for animals on an individual level, but she does have significant interest in them.
Really, she just doesn't seem to have any social skills. Despite all her complaining, she actually wants to be around people. She loves everyone, and wants everything to work out. She wants people to like her, and will latch on until they do or she finds a new target. It's almost invariably the latter. Despite not thinking much of the whole idea of romance, she kind of just wants to cuddle with someone... but can't stand the idea of cuddling with someone of inferior intellect.
She can be fairly intense, both in her celebrations of success and in her reactions to failure. She takes rejection and failure extremely perfectly, and has strong perfectionist tendencies; she'll beat herself up whenever she gets something wrong. Even if she's better than you (she certainly thinks she is), she's still not good enough. Her volume control also seems to be broken, as she seems to be permanently stuck in 'extremely loud' mode.

HISTORY:
Even from a young age, it was clear that Mutti was bright. She learned her letters without her parents really seeming to teach them to her, and pretty much from that day forward she was frustrated by everyone and everything. She never really had friends growing up, but instead had a collection of people she orbited around and attempted to join but was instead generally mocked by and ignored.
Her parents got her an apprenticeship as a Beastcrafter as soon as they could, mostly to give her something to do that wasn't antagonizing everyone in sight. Not that it stopped her, but at least the people she antagonized at least had the authority to give her unpleasant chores. For her first few months, rather than learning much about the creatures of Pern, Mutti instead mucked out stalls while ranting to everyone who passed by about how unfair it was that her genius wasn't recognized.
It became quickly apparent that Mutti didn't particularly want much to do with the day-to-day raising of animals, but was instead quite interested in learning more about them and their needs from a much more theoretical perspective. Feeding was a tedious chore, but learning about optimal feeding times and foods? Now that was interesting! So she was moved to the Beastcrafthall to apprentice there at the age of fourteen, and she took to it well. Until the Searchdragon showed up, declared her suitable, and whisked her away to Igen Weyr.
She hated it. The desert was boring, and the food unpalatable. Too many spices and not enough vegetables. So at the first opportunity, which wasn't particularly long after her arrival at all, she gained permission to transfer to Semaca Weyr; the place was rather short on Beastcrafters, and there were a fair few at Ista who were going to be glad to see the end of her.
