"Klah is probably a good idea for the moment," Kairi said as Sayla poured herself some more of the beverage. She got up to do the same, looking up at Y'ang who was, quite properly, delegating responsibility. That was good. She was a practicing Healer, and Kairi's focus had turned to research instead after losing her arm. That meant this really was her job.

"I can collate the data we have on the poisons we've tentatively identified as well as their sources so that a Scribe can produce something for the cooks to compare the stock they're using against, since searching our stores can only happen so quickly," Kairi said. She sat back down with her klah. Research was a typo of adventure, she supposed. A journey of discovery into unknown places. Those places were just dusty records. And the journey was often incredibly boring. "While looking for more possible sources, of course."

She still didn't believe this was coming from foraging. She was sure Y'ang just didn't want to discredit the possibility in case it was actually true but... accidental poisonings at the same time as intentional poisonings of dragons and whers? That was far too great a coincidence.

D'cara took Y'ang's comment to him a little more personally than was warranted. Okay, a lot more personally. Pale eyes fired off positive chagrin, daring the rider to continue the sentiment further. Of course, they would consider your ideas fruitless, came that hiss in the back of his mind. Nevermind the compliments from the other. One bad word was all it took to shutter his vibe.

You know as well as I do that it wasn't meant like that. Everybody's on heightened alert, and you all are forsking tired. Well meaning enough, but of course Sendaith's words would fail to penetrate D'cara's self-deprecation once it started to set in.

Another swig of wine.

Glancing over the scribbled words with newfound clarity, he tapped a few choice sentences. "Possible that one or two of these poisonings may have been accidental overdoses of what we already use." Looking for some kind oof an outlet for his fidgeting fingers, D'cara chewed the edge of a quill. Y'ang was off. Good riddance. But damn, there had been a valid point in her theories. "Let's strive to meet with our gatherers and farmers to look over everything the Weyr has actually been harvesting. The holdless should be included, as well. It's entirely possible that some, in their well-meaning to restore food and medicine to their current safe haven as a form of thanks, may have taken some things to us that are less than helpful. Once we've pinpointed the sources, we can address the cooks as well so that they aren't unintentionally serving death to their patrons. Until then ... "

He rolled the scroll and leaned back in his chair, rubbing the wrinkles above his brows.

"Treat everything as though it's toxic. Use utensils to handle herbs when applicable, or gloves. Make sure word gets to the drudges that help. Gloves for everything until we have completely determined the source."
