[PLOT] A Needed Change

Several of Semaca's specialist squads have grown too large, and too bloated with members lacking the appropriate training, to be properly managed. Semaca's leadership is proposing to reshuffle the squads, to better allocate personnel to tasks they are qualified and suited for, along with forming several new squads to better manage the diversity of Semacan riders' tasks.

"THANK FARANTH!" roared Traze while stomping down the cavern. "Took 'em long enough! We can't keep up with training all these new idiots. Look at all the ruckus they caused in a freaking month! A MONTH! At least all of Fort's whershit took the span of a few turns!"

Maybe she was broody because Azesk was so close to running but then again, Traze was ... always kind of like this. She kicked a rock and glowered with demented glee when it somehow beaned a tunnelsnake in the head and send it falling.

"Put 'em where they can do some good and not where we gotta hold their hands like bleedin' babes!"

"So long as people aren't just sent somewhere else they don't belong," Tam said mildly, giving the other wherhandler an appraising look. She wore Crafter knots, and therefore thankfully wasn't especially likely to be sent to the Weyr Guard because she was unsuited for more cerebral work. Thank Faranth. A hothead was the last thing they needed.

"Though if they're unsuited to something like Mazurka Squad, why were they allowed there in the first place? We don't allow people into the Weyr Guard who shouldn't be there." With one or two exceptions who had apparently been there from the early days of the Weyr, but she wasn't sure she counted those. They were more or less team mascots, which was fine, she supposed.
