Raev was used to Rask being a handful. The wher needed plenty of stimulus and enrichment in order to stay on task during her working hours. But recently, she had been even more impudent than usual. Leaving tasks half-finished, irregular sleep, even outright refusing to do certain tasks. Raev was approaching the end of her rope when finally Rask made her announcement. Of course it happened when they were in the middle of helping move supplies that had been recently delivered.
It time! Rask run! The garnet announced to her handler, wiggling excitedly.
"Are you serious right now? We still have four more crates to move!" Raev groaned, gesturing at the pile goods they had been assigned to transfer.
Rask run now! Need go! Back later! She called over her shoulder as she took off through the weyr.
"I'll just finish moving these myself then," Raev huffed to herself, not entirely sure how she was going to manage without the strength of a wher to assist her. "Then I'm locking myself in the weyr."
Rask bolted into the night, running along the narrow ledges of the mountains she now called home. Come chase Rask! She called to the whers of the weyr. Try catch, have fun!
